A poet at heart, one of Erika’s most resilient characteristics is her refusal to let the world steal her childlike curiosity and sense of awe and wonder.

Erika Byrd is a Shenandoah Valley native and JMU graduate who flew away to Southern California for many years and returned to roost in her hometown of Harrisonburg. Returning to the valley, she now appreciates why people choose the beautiful Shenandoah Valley to raise a family, go to college, or enjoy their golden years. Erika has more than two decades of experience in public relations and marketing. Having promoted luxury real estate developments in Southern California, including master-planned communities, private country clubs, and even a motor coach resort, she brings an enthusiastic and can-do attitude to support the agents and clients of Nest Realty Shenandoah Valley.

Her community leadership involvement includes serving as Vice President of Public Relations for Harrisonburg Toastmasters and as a Bible Study Fellowship women’s group facilitator. When she’s not working, you may find her composing at her other keyboard, dabbling in poetry, texting, but not over-texting, her daughter at college, collaborating with her son, a talented graphic designer, hiking, or playing endless fetch with her adorable grand dog.
