We’re proud of the team of agents we’ve assembled here at Nest Realty. We think they’re pretty awesome, and we think you will, too. During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents and brokers to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry.
In this installment, we chat with Kim Newton, a Nest Realtor in Shenandoah Valley.
Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area? How long have you lived here Kim Newton: My hometown is Staunton, and my family and I have lived in Harrisonburg since 2021.
NR: If you are new to real estate? what was your previous career? How has that prepared you for real estate? KN: I come from a diverse background in education and nonprofit management. I’ve worked for theatres, helped start a local radio station, and directed multiple educational programs in addition to being a classroom teacher. I love that I’m able to bring my love of learning and helping others to my real estate career. I’ve followed the local real estate market so that I can stay in touch with factors influencing our community. I also love houses and helping others feel right at home! I can’t wait to help more clients make their home here in the Valley... it’s a place that’s very special to me!
NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage? KN: From the moment I walked into the office, I felt right at home with Nest. Nest is truly at the forefront of real estate leadership; not only is our team highly experienced, but we have a suite of tools that truly make our listings shine. In such a competitive market, Nest Realty is the agency that I trust to represent my clients, whether they are buying their first home or selling a beloved estate.
NR: What’s your favorite part of being an agent? KN: I love supporting clients through the journey of home buying and selling. It’s one of life’s major transitions, and it deserves a trusted and dedicated guide.
NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients? KN: I focus on the residential market in both Harrisonburg and Staunton. I’m particularly excited to welcome newcomers to our community, whether from relocation or retirement, as well as families interested in multigenerational living.
NR: What are five adjectives to describe you? KN: Creative, Resilient, Authentic, Collaborative, Strategic
NR: Who would be your dream client? KN: My dream client would be any couple or family looking for room to grow, relax, and enjoy life! If a celebrity were to call me up... I hope it would be Maggie Smith! We could probably talk for hours about theatre and film; that would be my cup of tea for sure!
NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be? KN: Focusing on the things that matter in life, like family and enjoying time together, helps make prioritizing first-home ‘must haves’ so much easier! I look forward to helping buyers have a positive and even fun experience purchasing their first home!
NR: What’s your favorite season? Why? KN: I love the fall... the crisp leaves, wearing sweaters, and enjoying hot apple cider... it’s the best time of year!
–Building community and nurturing relationships are at the heart of Kim’s love for helping home buyers and sellers.
