Meet the Agent: Michael Harnish

During our “Meet the Agent” series, we sit down with our agents and brokers to learn more about them, what makes them tick, and why they’re passionate about the real estate industry.

In this installment, we chat with Michael Harnish a Nest Realtor in Harrisonburg .

Nest Realty: Tell us a bit about yourself! What brought you to the area? How long have you lived here Michael Harnish: I came to the college town in 2006 as a college student, met a wonderful woman and we decided to make it our forever home.

NR: How did you get into real estate? How long have you been practicing? MH: Shortly after my wife and I purchased our first house, I found myself really curious about how the process works. So, I reached out to a friend, who still works as an agent, and he walked me through the process. I sort of knew what the day to day looked like since my grandfather was an agent for 40 years in PA, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the last 10 years and hope for 10+ more!

NR: What led you to Nest Realty, as opposed to another brokerage? MH: Nest has an incredible team, both in their office management team as well as the other Nest agents. When I got a peek at the tools, I knew that the whole package would be the perfect amount of support for my career.

NR: What’s your favorite part of being an agent? MH: Watching my clients celebrate after a successful move! I often work with folks for a long period of time as they carefully consider their options, so when we get to closing, we have spent a significant amount of time together and have bonded through the experience. That’s my favorite!

NR: Do you have a specific area of expertise to offer clients? MH: Residential, land, and farms

NR: What are five adjectives to describe you? MH: Amicable, tall, hard-working, knowledgeable, trustworthy

NR: Who would be your dream client? MH: My dream clients would be the Property Brothers as I love how they are able to reimagine a space, and I aspire to be able to help clients imagine what could be.

NR: If you had one piece of advice for a first-time home buyer, what would it be? MH: Trust your gut, then your agent (hopefully me!).

NR: What’s your favorite season? Why? MH: I love fall and spring unless we have a really snowy winter, then I love winter.
